Chalk and its employees are passionate about sustainability and community contribution, and have participated both corporately and privately in community events and programs affecting both local and international people.
Community Contribution
As a company, Chalk gives back to the community not only by participating in regular activities such as Christmas food drives, adopt-a-family programs, United Way donations, and Diabetes Association donations, but through unique initiatives such as the Internet Café for Kids at the BC Children's Hospital, created by Chalk who then partnered with TELUS. Due to the companies' strong interest in the community, healthcare and the future of young people, TELUS and Chalk provided desktops, laptops, music therapy software, web-cams, printers and educational software to the Hospital in June, 2004.
Employees have also collectively participated in fund raising activities such as, 12 hr Relay Run, 24 hr Relay Run, Breast Cancer Run, Camp Moomba Yogathon (in support of children living with AIDS and HIV), Canuck Place Hospice for Children, Full Esteem Ahead (supporting understanding and assistance to the learning disabled), Indonesian Relief Fund, Katrina Relief Fund, SPCA, Superwalk/run for Parkinson's, UNICEF, Women Against Violence Against Women, and Yoga for Youth.
Sustainability
Chalk has encouraged environmental stewardship through its office recycling program, refining internal processes and approvals to electronic means thus reducing paper use as well as recycling of computer and other equipment. For example, Chalk donated all used laptops to the Vancouver, BC Women's Shelter and will continue making donations of all used equipment to various community groups.
