Fall at Chalk Is it really Fall already? Time flies when you're having fun... and when you've launched a new product! As mentioned in our last issue, we launched Mobile chalkboard™ last May. It is a new breed of enterprise application that allows organizations to develop media-rich mobile content and securely deliver it to their audience's BlackBerry smartphones. It's easy to use and has full tracking - so has a wide range of applications across multiple verticals.

With our new focus on mobile, we're going to be changing up the content in our newsletter moving forwards. As per this issue, you'll see expert opinions on mobile content and delivery, learn the latest in mobile news and hear about new features that are coming down the pipe for Mobile chalkboard™. We'll also be polling you for your opinion in each issue.

Please forward on to anyone you think would enjoy.

Ask The Expert Q: What is a Mobile Content Object?
A: A Mobile Content Object, or MCO for short, is a small piece of reusable content designed for a mobile device. MCO's can include things such as a video from an executive, a critical information bulletin, a short module with sales tips or refreshers, a risk management procedure, or a wireless quiz or survey.

Q: What does it mean to "Push" content to a mobile device?
A: Pushing content refers to the process by which content is sent to a device without the need for user involvement or device polling. This means that content can be pushed to a device, such as a BlackBerry smartphone, and then be available for users when they need it. Other systems require user involvement or require the device to poll the server up to 60 times an hour to check for new content, which wastes time and battery power - two critical concerns for mobile workers.

Mobile Content Tip & Trick
TIP: Need to gather input from a remote workforce? Use Mobile chalkboard™'s survey feature to ask your questions. Users can respond immediately using their BlackBerry equipped with Mobile chalkboard™. Use chalkboard™'s powerful ad-hoc reporting engine to quickly tally the results.

TRICK: Multiple video formats got you down? To reach the most number of supported devices with one video format, use MPEG-4 video in an MP4 container. You'll only have to encode the video once to reach all of your video-equipped BlackBerry smartphones, and the video will work your video iPod too!
