Growing Mobile Workforce Spring has arrived - and for BlackBerry® Independent Software Vendors such as Chalk, that means one thing: WES. WES, or the Wireless Enterprise Symposium, is the BlackBerry conference of the year – expecting over 2500 attendees in 2008. Bringing together carriers, resellers, ISVs, system integrators and other members of the wireless ecosystem, WES is where we launched Mobile chalkboard™ last year!

How are we warming up for the big event? Well, our core development team is busy working away on
Version 5.0 of Mobile chalkboard (to be released at the Symposium, but of course) and we toured with RIM last week at their spring BlackBerry Executive Summit Series; visiting
Phoenix, Sacramento and Vancouver
for invite-only events with none other
than RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie.

We’ll be in touch again shortly after WES with a full report!

Best,
Brooke Van Hatten

Growing Mobile Workforce Q: What’s the best way to do how-to mobile content?
A: Mobile chalkboard is an
excellent way to get timely how-to information out to your workforce; impactful information that can be referenced on a BlackBerry anywhere, anytime. To get your message across, we suggest straightforward, step-by-step text instructions accompanied by relevant images. Make sure your images are large enough to get a clear view of the actions required. Also, it is always wise to enhance the text and provide more detail by adding audio voiceover.

To take your how-to content one step further, consider showing your audience exactly what to do with a demonstration video. With screen-
recording software (like Camtasia Studio) you can create a video of the actions on your computer screen and add voice descriptions and callouts. With a simple click of the “Insert Video” button, you can add the video to your Mobile chalkboard content.

Q: How can you use Mobile chalkboard to drive leads?
A: Mobile chalkboard is an excellent way for organizations to uniquely communicate with their clients, investors and channel partners – and it’s not just a great differentiator.

To drive leads with these audiences, we suggest incorporating 1 click-to-call or email prompts, which are essentially live links within your BlackBerry pushcasts. By providing engaging, timely information followed by calls to action, you can drive responses and, ultimately, leads for your organization.

Mobile Content Tip & Trick
TIP: Securely deliver confidential information to a mobile workforce
The combination of Mobile chalkboard and BlackBerry technology is ideal for delivering proprietary information. All you have to do is create your confidential content. Mobile chalkboard and BlackBerry encryption take care of the rest.

At an elementary level, Mobile chalkboard allows you to specify your audience - meaning that your pushcasts are only sent to the individuals you have selected. Further, encrypted communication means that your confidential information will not be seen by prying eyes. Content delivered through Mobile chalkboard also cannot be forwarded or copied, so you can rest assured that your critical content doesn’t end up with those you didn’t intend. In addition, the ability for an administrator to remotely lock and wipe the information from a lost or stolen BlackBerry makes Mobile chalkboard a highly secure solution for delivering confidential information to a mobile workforce.

TRICK: Facilitating business continuity with Mobile chalkboard
In the event of an emergency, Mobile chalkboard can play a key role in keeping your business going and your employees safe. Mobile chalkboard allows you to deliver and store large amounts of content on BlackBerry devices. Content, including text, graphics, audio, and video, can be pulled up anytime – even when connectivity isn’t available. Emergency procedures, evacuation routes and schematics can be stored on your employees’ devices for quick and easy access. Also, using Mobile chalkboard’s click-to-call capability, you can create a dynamic and always-available emergency contact list.
